PPV Battle: Pacquiao-Vargas or Kovalev-Ward?
September 29, 2016
It seems that in recent boxing history, there hasn’t been more than one big Pay-Per-View bout per month. It goes without saying that PPV is really expensive, and for most it is tough to put down the money to see just one fight in a month.
In November of course, there are two big PPV battles: Manny Pacquiao vs. Jessie Vargas and Sergey Kovalev vs. Andre Ward. Asking boxing fans to shell out the cash to watch not one, but two PPV fights in one month is a lot.
It seems like some might just really want to see Pacquiao and will pay to watch him fight no matter what. On paper it doesn’t seem like Vargas will be much of a challenge for him however, and he’s not exactly a big name fighter. Not the most compelling fight.
On the other hand, Kovalev vs. Ward will be an extremely compelling match between two undefeated boxers at the top of their games. Anybody who is just wanting to watch the best fight and can’t afford to buy both events is going to have a pretty easy decision to make. Check out the HBO press conference for Ward-Kovalev here.
So what are you going to do? Will you purchase one fight, both fights, or neither?
