Malignaggi Says His Reps Are In Talks With McGregor
October 17, 2017
Paulie Malignaggi, 36, is hoping to get a fight against Conor McGregor in the boxing ring. Malignaggi has stated that his adviser, Al Haymon, has been in talks with UFC president Dana White about a fight between the two.
Even though McGregor has already called out Malignaggi to fight him in the octagon, he has no interest in doing such. Malignaggi wants the fight under the rules of boxing only.
Already trying his hand at boxing for the first time, McGregor faced superstar Floyd Mayweather Jr. on August 26 in their novelty fight in Las Vegas, Nevada. That fight brought in a massive number of pay-per-view buys, which are still slowly being tabulated. There is a high possibility that the final PPV buys could be well over 4 million. McGregor vs. Malignaggi obviously wouldn’t be nearly as high, but it could still possibly bring in over 1 million buys on PPV. Honestly, both Malignaggi and McGregor are both pretty good talkers. Most boxing and MMA fans would be interested in watching their press conferences if there is a fight in the future.
McGregor is supposedly going to be returning to the UFC before the end of the year. Honestly he needs to return soon in order to defend his titles, not to mention keep his skills up. He surely doesn’t want to have a repeat of Ronda Rousey, whose skills got rusty after she spent a lot of time out of the octagon after she made it into the big time.
What do you think about a possible upcoming fight between Paulie Malignaggi and Conor McGregor?
